Chi Alpha, you have an opportunity to make a difference in the Philippines. During We Live Missions Week, you can live out our motto of “every student feeds one” by helping expand the number of children being fed in the Philippines by 12,000 children a day.

On the other side of the world is the beautiful islands that make up the Philippines. Often what is depicted of these islands are its beautiful beaches, lavish resorts, and ideal vacation destinations. Unfortunately, like many places, the Philippines has a side that many don’t see, of extreme poverty, civil unrest, and natural disasters.

The Philippines has a high occurrence of natural disasters, especially recently. Convoy of Hope first responded to natural disasters that struck this country in 2003. Since then, they saw there was so much more that could be done. Armed conflict is a frequent reality, leading to the displacement of families and the breakdown of living standards. This at-risk population can also struggle with food insecurity and hunger which results in chronic malnutrition in thousands of children. These children go to bed hungry wondering where their next meal will come from. feedONE is changing that.

Convoy of Hope and feedONE partner with local schools to engage children in a strategic feeding and nutrition program. We know food security is a critical component of a thriving community as it increases the likelihood that children will stay in school, among other positive outcomes. Currently feedONE has 19,000 children enrolled in our program. Every school day these children are given not only food and education but given a new hope. However, there is so much more to be done.

We believe that as a movement, as young people, as Chi Alpha, we can come together to help them reach this goal of feeding 31,000 children in the Philippines each day! Let’s be a movement where “every student feeds one.”
